He's clearly a very good writer - it would be pretty ridiculous to deny a basic and admirable eloquence and humour - it's just that, as the first commenter wrote, this has to be one of the most embarrassing, tedious, dreadful subjects for anyone ever to write on. It's like picking one's nose in public....

Oxide runs out of breath

I think Cherwell's investigation into Oxide's financial situation was a considerable disservice to the students of Oxford. The point about royalties is contentious, since very few people listened to the station anyway and the music is mostly used to fill space between presenting slots (which is what the station was really about). I accept that media institutions have to play by the rules, but oxide was a small, rooky radio outlet available only to those in the know; not something that anyone could stumble upon on the airways. I think this was the wrong topic for a cherwell investigation. Essentially what has happened here is a bunch of ambitious journo-hacks have scored cheap 'front-page story' points at the expense of other students, who now have nowhere to practice live-broadcasting. Bad form cherwell....
